Popsey and Johns Story

Posted on, December 2, 2019

My name is Popsey. I am a 4 1/2 year old female English Pointer currently living in Turkey. I was found in February 2016 in a terrible state with horrendous injuries to my left foot and lower leg. I was in so much pain and had been left like this suffering for weeks. A kind lady spotted me and immediately knew she had to help, so she picked me up and took me home. We visited a place called ‘the vets’ where it was clear that my foot and leg were beyond help and nothing could be done to save them, my foot was completely flat and my leg was rotten. The vets did all they could to help me and had to amputate my complete leg. After spending a few weeks convalescing with my foster mummy and adjusting to life with only 3 legs, numerous pleas were made to find me a home but all were unsuccessful. I was taken to a shelter in Kas where my foster mummy worked as she was unable to keep me herself and I had been there ever since! In August 2019, in an attempt to finally find me the loving home I so deserve, a post was sent across the world of Facebook where it was seen by another kind lady who knew she had to help! Little did I know that this was to be my lucky day! The lady contacted The Pointer Rescue Service in the UK to ask if there was any way they could help…

The day that contact with The Pointer Rescue Service was made, two of their volunteers were at Salisbury hospital as one of them was a patient there for a few days. Whilst spending sometime in the sunshine outside the hospital that day they bumped in to a man called John and they all spent a couple of hours chatting. When John heard about me, he fell in love and instantly wanted to know more! John could completely understand and sympathise with my situation as he is also an amputee

What a journey life has taken for myself and Popsey, I expected to leave the world with all my limbs as I know if she could talk she would agree , however, The cards we have been dealt didn’t fall as expected, But look at us now, we have turned a massive negative into the greatest positive and I’m so happy , Proud and overwhelmed I’m part of her life. She has completed me already. It has been hard waiting for months for her but she is worth it I would like to thank everyone who has made this dream possible for me and Popsey and have made us happy again.  Only weeks now before she flies over.
