Volunteer Spotlight: Queen Bea & Princess Poppet

AKA Roberta – Pointer Royalty & Rescue Superhero Extraordinaire

Step aside, Avengers – there’s a new superhero in town, and she goes by the name QBea (short for Queen Bea, naturally). But don’t let the crown fool you – her kingdom isn’t made of gold and jewels… it’s made of tennis balls, muddy pawprints, and wagging tails. And her royal duties? Fostering, cuddling, training, rehabilitating, assessing and loving rescue dogs until they find their very own forever castles.

Known in some circles as “that crazy dog lady”, Roberta (or Bea to her hooman friends) wears that title like a badge of honour. But around here, we know her better as the heart of gold behind some of the happiest wagging tails you’ve ever seen.

QBea’s canine career began in childhood – her life has always been filled with dogs of all shapes, sizes, and slobber levels. But it’s the gundogs, and especially pointers, that truly stole her heart (and most of her sofa space).

Nowadays, she shares her home and her heart with the dazzling Princess Poppet, a stunning pointer pup who’s basically dog royalty. Together, they make the ultimate dynamic duo: one teaches with patience and love, the other wiggles with joy and charm. (We’ll let you guess which one does which.)

QBea has fostered countless puppies over the years, including future assistance dogs who get their start in her loving home. She’s the kind of person who sees a rescue pup in need and says, “Ah yes, QBea is going to make it allllll better, you shall get to your forever castle!”

Her philosophy is simple but powerful: “Dogs are our therapy, and we can be theirs.”

And that belief has made her a beloved foster carer with excellent assessor skills (or shall we say Fairy Dogmother?) for the Pointer Rescue Service, where she’s become completely, utterly, and gloriously hooked.

So here’s to Queen Bea – pointer whisperer, puppy cuddler, toy-fetcher, heart healer, and all-around rescue rockstar. Long may she reign in the hearts of the dogs lucky enough to cross her path.
