Friendship Application

Introduction to friendship and giving as you live

The Trustees of the charity the Pointer Rescue Service established in 1973 would like to say thank you for supporting their charitable work by joining our Friendship scheme.

In return you will receive a minimum of two newsletters a year and a free yearly PRS calendar. Both of these publications we positively encourage Pointer followers to submit your best stories, experiences, advice and photos.

The aim is to encourage friendship of like minded people who love this noble breed the English Pointer, to get people more involved in the work and aims of the charity. We are always looking for new volunteers to foster, homecheck, transport or kennel unwanted Pointers. However we understand not everyone can help in these ways and the Friendship scheme is hoped to include more Pointer lovers into the rescue world by contributing to our publications such as our intended new book to be launched in 2018 called “Adopter’s Tails”.

The Friendship scheme has been created to enable fundraising to be more constant and reliable for the charity and to enable it to carry out its aims, but to limit the “begging bowl” syndrome of constant fundraising. Of course we welcome fundraising such as sponsored walks or fete stalls or dog shows.

The Annual General Meeting will be held once a year in the summer months, this year it is planned for early July 2017 (yet tbc) and it will provide a platform for the Trustees, Working Committee and Volunteers to share our experiences of rehoming Pointers and how we are striving to reach our aim of having a dedicated Pointer Sanctuary.

Every new adopting family of a rescue Pointer is invited to be a “Friend” automatically in the first year of adoption. The rescue dog is supported for life by the charity.
