A Heartfelt Request
The next stage of our journey together is the Homecheck Phase. Before we take this step, we want to share a little bit about how our process works.
Every person you interact with at Pointer Rescue or via the homecheck team is a volunteer giving up their precious free time out of a pure love for dogs. Because a homecheck is a deeply involved part of the process, we want to make sure every minute counts.
If you’re ready to take this next leap, we’re ready too! However, if you have any lingering doubts or if the timing isn’t quite right, there is no pressure — we just kindly ask that you let us know now so we can focus our volunteer resources on the rescue dogs currently waiting for their forever homes.
Your Next Steps: The Two-Part Homecheck
To make the process as smooth as possible for both you and our volunteers, we conduct our homechecks in two stages:

The Virtual Tour
Indoor & Outdoor
First, we ask you to provide us with a “Virtual Homecheck.” This allows our team to review your living space and provide any initial feedback before a physical visit is scheduled. Please send us:

Indoor Living Space: A walkthrough of the main rooms where the dog will spend their time. This can be non-invasive so you can leave out anything particularly private. - ✦
Outdoor/Garden Area: A clear video showing the entire perimeter, including fencing heights and any side gates, to ensure the area is secure and “escape-proof.”

The Physical Homecheck
& Identity Verification
Once our team has reviewed and approved your videos, we will arrange for one of the wonderful volunteers at the homecheck service (New Start or A Team) to visit you in person. Prior to this visit, we also perform a standard identity check. You will be required to provide:

Proof of Identity and Address: Preferably a copy of your Driving Licence or if not, the photo page of your Passport and a recent utility bill showing your current address. This is non-invasive; block out anything you don’t wish to show on your bill.
Understanding the Adoption Investment
We know that an adoption donation is an investment, so we’ve worked hard to ensure it covers absolutely everything your dog needs to arrive home safe, healthy, and ready for cuddles.
The fee is (country specific). This isn’t just an adoption donation; it’s a comprehensive package that covers professional services and logistics that would often cost significantly more if handled individually:
- ✓ Full Health Prep: Neutering, all necessary blood tests, and vaccinations are completed and are usually covered by our wonderful rescue partners.
- ✓ Official Documentation: Includes their Pet Passport and Microchipping.
- ✓ Microchip Registration: We register upon arrival in the UK. Dual-registered with PRS via Petracks for lifetime safety.
- ✓ VIP Travel: Covers the entirety of their transport costs from their country of origin.
- ✓ Peace of Mind: 5 weeks of Agria complimentary pet insurance to get you started!
Flexible Payment Options
To make things a little easier on the budget, you can choose the method that works best for you:
- • A one-off donation payment.
- • Spread the cost over 3 or 4 monthly installments (depending on travel timeline).
- • Previously agreed amount with PRS (via a private conversation with our charity secretary, Carol Goodlife).
The Next Steps in Your Journey
We are so excited to help you find your new companion! Once your homecheck is successfully completed, we will send you a confirmation to proceed. At this stage, we ask for a £100 reserve donation.
This serves as a heartfelt commitment between you and your new rescue dog, ensuring they are officially reserved just for you. This amount will be deducted from the total adoption donation (outlined below by country), with the remaining balance payable 7 days before your dog arrives home.
