I first got involved with The Pointer Rescue Service charity back in 2016, when my former company helped to redevelop their website – I personally spent many hours invested in this. I spent a long time working with the Pointer Rescue team to develop their online presence.
Back in the day, I got to know Richard May (Chairman of Pointer Rescue Service) through his previous company. I got to see just how much effort, money, time and devotion it takes to support doggies in their upbringing and rehabilitation after being resuced from abject mysery. Many of these dogs have had a very hard time with humans. They were abused, maligned and forgotten about. Fundamentally, that heart my soul. I wanted to help.
I must confess, I used to have an irrational fear of dogs. It is said that you should face one’s fears. I had the pleasure of visiting Richard’s house in the summer of 2017. To have 20 pointer dogs charge at you with love in their eyes and wanting to welcome me, I totally conquered my fear. I have NEVER looked back!
Since then, I have been totally invested in doing what I can, and what my skill set prevails, to help these beautiful animals. Very often, they have had a very hard start to life. Many have been abused by the humans that they would do anything to protect. That hurts me to my soul, and I am willing to go to the ends of the earth to help these intrepid fellows.
So developing the website became an absolute pleasure. If, through my efforts and as part of the team, I can encourage one more person to foster, or adopt, one of these beautiful Pointer, it will mean I have contriuted to the greater good for our furry friends.
