🐾 Hello, my name is Briar… and I’m looking for my forever home 🐾

Hi there, I’m Briar. I’m an older girl with a soft heart, a waggy tail, and a lifetime of love to give.

For most of my life, I had one very special person — my mum. I was her loyal companion and working partner, and we shared everything. When she became poorly, I stayed by her side through it all. I didn’t understand why she was tired or why things got quieter in our house, but I never left her side. Then one day… she didn’t come back. I still don’t quite understand where she’s gone, but I miss her every day.

After Mum passed, the kind neighbours next door took me in. They’ve loved me and cared for me, but they can’t keep me anymore.  I don’t quite understand what temporary means but I think it means I have no where for me to be secure anymore.  I’ve lost my special person.  They promised me that they’d help me find someone very special — someone who will love me just as much as I’ll love them.

I’m a good girl — always have been. I used to be a working dog, but I retired when I was eight to stay home with Mum. These days, I’m happiest being part of family life. I adore people and other dogs (I currently live with a bouncy young German Shepherd who keeps me on my toes!). I’m gentle, calm, and I never bark — I prefer wagging my tail and giving soft nuzzles.

I love my walks, especially when I hear the sound of my special electronic whistle. I’m very well trained and love to please. I’m also completely food-obsessed — if there’s a biscuit in your pocket, I’ll probably find it!

When I’m not out exploring, I’m perfectly content snoozing on the sofa or curling up somewhere warm. I love home comforts and just being near my people. I’ve never been aggressive or reactive in my life — I’m far too easygoing for that. The only things that worry me are fireworks and loud bangs… I prefer peace and quiet.

I’m healthy, up-to-date with all my vaccinations, and not on any medication. What I need most now is a gentle hand to hold and a heart big enough to let me in. I’ve lost so much, but I still have endless love to give.  I am told I do not act my age…
