In Loving Memory of Cathy

Posted On: Apr 14th 2025

It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Cathy has gained her angel wings. A truly gentle and precious soul, Cathy touched the hearts of everyone she met — both here in the UK and with our team in Spain, who fought so hard to give her the life she had always deserved.

Cathy’s life had not been easy. Kept locked away and used for breeding, she spent many years never knowing the kindness of a gentle hand, the joy of a warm bed, or the feeling of the sun on her face. Yet despite everything she endured, her spirit remained pure, hopeful, and full of quiet love. She dreamed, like so many others, of a forever home — a place where she would be cherished, safe, and loved beyond measure.

When she finally arrived in the UK, it felt like Cathy’s new life was just beginning. She had overcome so much, and her sweet, gentle nature shone through in every wag of her tail, every soft nuzzle for reassurance. She loved people deeply, craving the company of kind souls who would make her feel safe. Her journey had been one of courage, resilience, and endless hope.

Tragically, just as her forever was about to begin, Cathy’s story was cut heartbreakingly short. It is almost too much to bear — that after everything, her time with us would be so fleeting. It is a cruel reminder of how precious and fragile life is, and why, even on the darkest days, we continue to fight for dogs like Cathy. She is why we give our time, our hearts, and our souls to rescue work. She is why we carry on.

Cathy was loved beyond words — by her foster dad, Barry and her foster Mum Carol (our Charity Secretary) who gave her endless cuddles and was cuddling her right at the end to make sure she wasn’t alone… by the wonderful Sarah and Cathy from Spain who helped save her and never stopped loving her, by every volunteer who read her story and saw the gentle beauty within her. She was a beacon of all that is good and innocent in this world. She deserved a lifetime of happiness, and while she didn’t get the time we all wished for her, she knew she was loved. She felt it. She was never alone.

We imagine Cathy now, soaring with her angel wings across the Rainbow Bridge, finally free to run and play without fear or pain. We picture her beautiful face, her soft spirit, and her endless hope shining brighter than ever.

Our team, both in the UK and in Spain, will carry her memory in our hearts forever. We will honour her by continuing our work, by saving others like her, by fighting for the second chances every dog deserves. Cathy will forever be a part of us — her spirit a quiet, gentle force urging us forward, even when the days are hard.

Sweet dreams, precious Cathy.
You were so, so loved and always will be.
We miss you beyond words.
Fly high, beautiful girl — you will always be our special angel. 🕊️

💛
