Hello lovely hooman… my name is Bradley 🐾

I’m so happy you’re listening to my story.

I was born in Turkey, and the world felt very big and confusing back then. Some days were frightening, and I didn’t always understand what was happening around me. But even then, I kept my heart open and hoped that kindness would find me one day.

That hope carried me all the way to the UK, where I was adopted by a family. I wanted so badly to be a good boy, but sometimes I got punished when I didn’t understand what was expected of me. Little by little, fear crept in, and over two and a half years my anxiety grew. I would run away—not because I didn’t care, but because I was overwhelmed and didn’t know how to ask for help.

The wonderful PRS team never gave up on me. They tried to help me find my place in the world again, and eventually they managed to bring me safely into their care. That journey wasn’t easy for anyone… but I promise, with my whole heart, I tried to be brave every single step of the way.

Then something truly magical happened.

I landed softly on my paws with my foster pawrents, Vesna and Chris. From the very beginning, they showed me patience, gentleness and understanding. With them—supported by the amazing PRS team—I have learned what safety feels like. I have learned how to rest. How to trust. How to breathe again. And oh my goodness… I have made so much progress.

I may carry some worries from my past, but please know this above all else:
I am a deeply loving boy.

When I feel unsure or overwhelmed, I gently press my head against your heart. It helps me calm down and reminds me that I’m not alone. I live for cuddles, soft voices, warm hands, and gentle ear rubs. If you sit down, I will almost certainly appear beside you, just wanting to be close.

I truly love people. I make friends very easily and I’m kind with other dogs too—although German Shepherds make me a bit nervous (I’m not cross with them, I just need reassurance). I adore playing chase with my dog friends and am wonderfully respectful with cats. Horses, llamas, birds, traffic? All absolutely fine with me—I take it all in my stride now.

On walks, I’m very polite. I don’t pull, I walk nicely by your side, and if I wander ahead I always check back to make sure we’re still together. My recall is excellent—100% so far—and I’m very proud of that. I also know my words: sit, bed, wait, and even “1, 2, 3, 4” when I lift each paw. After walks, I wait patiently at the door and offer my feet one by one so you can clean them. I try very hard to be a good boy.

I’ll always tell you when I need to go outside, and I’ve never had an accident indoors. I sometimes prefer to go away from the house at first—it just feels safer to me.

I love my dinner in the late afternoon, especially when it includes chopped chicken livers cooked in butter mixed into my food. (It’s my absolute favourite, just in case you were wondering.) I’m also very good at taking tablets—either tucked into liver or gently popped into my mouth with a reassuring rub.

There are a few gentle things I need help with as I continue to grow:

  • I’m afraid of the dark, so a night light helps me feel safe
  • I don’t like being under blankets
  • I’m learning to be alone, but I’m not there yet—I can manage about one minute now, which is a huge step for me
  • I don’t like small rooms with closed doors, but I can now sleep in the bedroom with the door closed as long as I know my foster Mum and Dad are there and I’m safe
  • When I feel overwhelmed, I sometimes need to chomp on something to calm myself. I have a special chompy blanket and just take one little bite—it helps my feelings settle
  • Car journeys are still hard for me, but having someone in the back cuddling me makes such a difference
  • I’m not keen on wearing clothes and may try to remove them—there’s a reason for this, and it can be gently explained
  • If I panic and start shaking, being guided kindly to my bed helps me rest and reset. I’m really good at this now

I like to take my time deciding if chews are really mine. Once I’m sure, I enjoy them very much.

What I dream of now is a patient, devoted couple or family who have time, love, and understanding to give. Someone who will continue the incredible work started by Vesna, Chris, and the PRS team. I have come so far, and with the right people by my side, I know my best days are still ahead.

If you choose me, you won’t just be giving a dog a home.
You’ll be giving a sensitive soul the safety he’s always hoped for.

And I promise you this—
I will love you with everything I have.
I will trust you.
And I will give you the softest cuddles and the truest heart.

With all my love,
Bradley 🐶💛
