A Love Letter from Hamish – The Gentle Adventurer

Hello there, lovely human. My name’s Hamish, and I’m here to tell you all about me in the hope that you might be ‘the one’—my perfect match, my happily-ever-after.

Let’s get straight to the good stuff: I am, without question, a ‘very’ good boy. I am gentle, quiet, and ever so polite. I won’t barge into your space uninvited, I won’t demand attention, and I certainly won’t challenge you to a staring contest over dinner (though if something happens to drop, well… let’s just say I believe in seizing life’s little opportunities).

Now, I must confess—I’ve been having a bit of a tough time lately. You see, I came to my current home full of hope and excitement quite a few years ago, but there’s another dog here now, a younger one, who really loves to play. And while that’s all very well and good, I’m just not that kind of guy. I’m more of a “chill with a nice hooman” type, not a “wrestle-mania champion” type. She didn’t take kindly to my ‘live and let live’ philosophy and, well… I became her personal chew toy. Not my favorite hobby, if I’m honest. So now, I’m looking for a fresh start—a calm, loving home where I can just ‘be me.

What does that look like, you ask? Oh, I’m so glad you did!

🐾 I’m an ‘excellent’ walking companion. I trot along beautifully on the lead, completely unbothered by other dogs, squirrels, and the general mayhem of the world. If you enjoy long walks, I’m your guy! I even have experience running alongside a bicycle, so if you fancy an adventure buddy for canicross or trail running, I’m all in.

🐾 Around the house, I am a perfect gentleman. I won’t bark the place down, I won’t rearrange your furniture (except maybe my bed—I ‘do’ like to get it just right), and I certainly won’t get under your feet. I’d be happiest as an only dog, or perhaps with a fellow calm and independent canine housemate who respects my personal space.

🐾 Ah, the garden. Now, here’s where I really shine. If you have a garden that you don’t mind being lovingly “redecorated” by a dog who takes his birdwatching ‘very’ seriously, I’m your perfect tenant. I will ‘happily’ investigate every single bush, every single leaf, ‘every single blade of grass’ for hours on end. The garden is my domain, my kingdom, my very own nature documentary. Small, neat gardens? Not for me. Expanses of wilderness to explore? ‘Yes, please!’

🐾 My recall? Well… let’s call it a ‘work in progress.’ If I’m in the house or garden, I’ll come trotting over like a dream. But in the open countryside? Let’s just say I have a ‘strong independent streak.’ I was whistle trained once, so with a little refresher, I could probably get back on track. But if you let me off lead in a big open space, you ‘might’ want to clear your schedule for the afternoon while I do a bit of… personal exploration.
