I am three years old, and though I have been through more than most dogs experience in a lifetime, I am finally ready to find out what it feels like to be truly loved.
I haven’t had the best luck so far. I was found in a government shelter in Turkey in a very sad state – I was little more than a walking skeleton. I had a broken back leg from a hunting accident that hadn’t healed properly, and it caused me a lot of pain. Because I couldn’t hunt anymore, I was left behind.
But the kind people at Melez Dog Rescue saved me. To stop the pain, they had to help me become a “tripawd” by removing my bad leg. It was a very scary time – the vets said I even had the hiccups for 24 hours because I was so shocked! But I am a fighter.
Being a Pointer means:
✨ I have a spirit that can’t be broken.
✨ I am naturally sensitive and very in tune with my humans.
✨ I might have three legs, but I still have 100% of the love to give!
Now that I’m healed, I am running around happily again. I’m rediscovering my confidence every single day. I used to be very worried about people touching my hip where my leg used to be, but I’m learning that hands can be for gentle strokes and kind pats, not just for hurting.
I am a social boy who loves the company of other dogs. Because I am a sensitive soul, I’d love a home with people who understand that I might be a little shy at first, but once I trust you, I will give you my whole heart. I’m looking for a “forever mummy or daddy” who will look at me and see a brave survivor, not just a dog with a missing leg.
I’ve survived the hard part. Now, I’m just waiting for the best part – you.
I’ll be the one who leans against your legs for comfort. I’ll be the one who shows you that being “different” doesn’t stop you from being happy. I’ll be the one who finally knows what it’s like to have a real home.
