🐾 Meet Lucas: The Campo Survivor Ready for His Brightest Chapter! 🐾

“Hola! My name is Lucas. Not too long ago, I was wandering the wild Spanish campo with two Galgo friends, wondering where my next meal might come from. Thankfully, those days are firmly behind me! I’m currently staying with some wonderful rescuers in Almeria who are helping me get ready for the best adventure of all: finding a family of my own.

I am a young, 10.5kg Pointer cross with a real zest for life. If there is a person nearby, I want to be their best friend; if there is a dog nearby, I want to be their playmate. I’m a ‘glass-half-full’ kind of boy who hasn’t let my rough start dampen my spirit one bit.”

The Cleanest Roommate: One thing my rescuers have noticed is how much pride I take in my space. Even in a shelter environment, I work hard to keep my sleeping area clean. This is a fantastic sign that I’ll take to house-training like a duck to water once I’ve got a routine in a real home!

Social & Sweet: I currently share my kennel with two other dogs and we get along famously. I get to go out to the exercise compound a few times a day to burn off some energy and play, and I’ve shown absolutely no interest in guarding my food or toys—I’m much more interested in making friends.

A Blank Canvas: Because I grew up on the campo, things like ‘sit’ and ‘stay’ are still a bit of a mystery to me, but I do know my name! I walk well on a lead and I’ve been a very brave boy at the vet. I’ve even seen cats while out on the street and didn’t feel the need to chase or react—I’m much too busy enjoying the scenery.

The Ideal Match: I’m looking for an active, loving home that can continue my education.

• A Helping Hand: Since I’m still young and learning the ropes of “indoor life,” I’d love a family with the patience to teach me my basic commands. I’m very motivated by attention and love, so I’ll be a quick learner!

• The More the Merrier: I would be very happy in a home with another dog to play with, but as long as I get plenty of human interaction, I’ll be a happy boy.

• Adventure Ready: I’m at that perfect age where I’m ready to hike, explore, and then snuggle up at the end of the day.

I am a truly joyful, devoted lad who just needs a chance to show how much love I have to give.
