Hello… I’m Maddie. ❤️

I’m seven years young, and if you’re reading this, I’m hoping you might just be the person I’ve been waiting my whole life to find.

Life hasn’t always been kind to me.

I’m a little British girl who knows what it feels like to be forgotten. Neglect leaves invisible paw prints on your heart, but somehow I’ve never stopped believing that somewhere, someone is saving a space just for me.

The lovely people at The Pointer Rescue Service gave me that chance. Not long after I was rescued, it turned out I’d only just finished a season, so before I can officially begin my new life, I’ll need to be spayed. I’ll need a family who’ll look after me while I recover, spoil me with cuddles (doctor’s orders, obviously), and promise me that those difficult days are behind me forever.

I’m now staying with my amazing foster Mum, Nicole, who is being so loving and kind to me. She’s been a fab foster Mum for PRS before, so I’m in very safe hands while I wait for my forever home.

Now… shall we talk about my qualifications?

I walk beautifully on my lead. No towing you down the road like a tractor. I’m much more of a “let’s stroll together and admire the world” kind of girl.

My recall is pretty good too, although if I come to live with you we’ll need to practise together again. After all, a girl needs to learn where “home” is before she can race back to it.

And when I’m off lead on a walk, I’m very good at checking in with my person. I’ll keep looking back to make sure you’re still there, because I like to know my favourite human is close by.

I like other dogs and I’m perfectly happy to share my home with one, but if I’m being completely honest… I do rather enjoy having my favourite human all to myself. I wouldn’t mind being your one and only princess, as long as I still get to meet some doggy friends from time to time. Equally, I could live as an only dog and enjoy visiting doggy pals instead.

I can even live with a cat. We probably won’t be exchanging friendship bracelets or curling up together for afternoon naps, but with sensible introductions we can happily agree to mind our own business.

I’m good with children too. I love gentle people.

I’m a little shy when I first meet you, but once I realise you’re kind… oh goodness… that’s when my heart completely melts.

You’ll soon discover that my favourite place in the whole wide world is right beside you.

Not across the room.

Not downstairs.

Right beside you.

At night, I would need to sleep close to my human because in my previous life I was very neglected, and being near you helps me feel safe and loved. I’ll need my own cosy dog bed next to yours because being close to my favourite person makes me feel secure. After everything that’s happened, I just want to know you’re there when I open my eyes.

Now… there is one tiny confession I should probably make…

I absolutely, completely, undeniably LOVE food.

In fact… if you accidentally leave a sandwich, slice of toast, sausage roll, biscuit or pretty much anything edible on the kitchen counter or dining table while you’re not looking…

…well…

Let’s just say it may mysteriously vanish.

No one will know where it went.

Certainly not me.

(I’d recommend investing in slightly taller worktops… just in case.)

The volunteers tell me I’m wonderfully sweet-natured, and I don’t really understand why they make such a fuss because loving people is simply what I do best.

I’ve got so much love tucked away inside me, just waiting for the right person.

I don’t need grand adventures or exciting holidays.

I don’t need fancy toys.

I just need someone who’ll smile when they see me each morning, tell me I’m a good girl, save me a little space beside them, and make me feel like I matter.

Maybe an older couple looking for a faithful companion.

Maybe someone who wants a little shadow with four paws.

Maybe someone who’s been searching for their special girl…

…because I think I’ve been searching for you too.

If you’ve got room in your heart for a gentle soul who asks for very little but gives absolutely everything in return, I promise I’ll spend every single day showing you just how grateful I am.

I’ve waited seven years for my happily ever after.
