🐾 Hello… My name is Mika 🐾

And this is my story… from my heart to yours.

I am a beautiful 6-year-old English Pointer female, and though my past has been filled with shadows, I am looking forward to a very bright future. For six long years, my life was incredibly small and lonely. Imagine living in a dark, windowless shed with minimal interaction, exercise, or stimulation. As a youngster, I suffered a fractured femur (thigh bone). Because it didn’t heal perfectly, I wasn’t “fit for purpose” as a working dog, so I was used entirely for breeding instead.

Living in that dark space for so long meant I used to chew on the cage bars or rocks just to get through the days, which has worn my teeth down a bit—but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying life now! It was a miserable existence, but I am proud to tell you that those days are gone forever. Daylight has finally become my norm, replacing the many hours of darkness. The gate has opened, the tunnel has ended, and I am finally safe.

My Journey & UK Foster Update 🇬🇧

I was initially rescued and cared for by the wonderful team at Save a Life Rescue in Spain. When I first arrived in May, my tail was tucked tightly between my legs. I was a little shy and couldn’t quite believe the kindness I was being shown. But within just hours, that tail started to wag—and it hasn’t stopped since!

Because of my past, I arrived very thin (11.6kg) and weak with little muscle in my back legs. Thanks to lots of rest, recovery, and good food (I am currently thriving on a raw and high-quality diet!), I’ve blossomed into a healthy, strong girl around 19kg! My old leg fracture gives me a slightly unique gait, but it doesn’t bother me or cause me any pain at all. I’ve also braved my spay operation, and everything went wonderfully well.

At the end of July, I made the exciting trip from Spain to the UK, and I am now settling beautifully into my UK foster home with my foster mum Lesley in Dorset.

I am proving to be an absolute dream around the house! I slept all through my very first night, I am completely house-trained (peeing outside on the gravel!), and I haven’t chewed a single thing! I have claimed my very own fluffy donut bed and orthopaedic bed, and I love nothing more than getting air to my belly and quietly snoring the day away. I even went on my first pub visit just 24 hours after arriving in the UK and was an absolute star!

Family & Friends

  • Wonderful with People: I am an incredibly sweet, affectionate, and gentle girl who will happily cuddle with you all day long if you have the time! I love human companionship and gentle guidance.

  • Dog Friendly: While in Spain, my aunties discovered that some of my earlier protective behaviour was simply down to a hormonal false pregnancy following my spay. Once that settled, I did fantastically well in pack walks and group plays. In my UK foster home, I live alongside a 15-year-old doggy brother named Ziggy. While I can occasionally watch him closely or ask for my own space, I am generally very peaceful and happy to do my own thing. With the right match, I can certainly live alongside a calm, respectful companion.

  • Cat Friendly: I have been tested with the resident foster cat! When she walks through the living room, I stay relaxed in my bed or crate and just watch her quietly, showing no eagerness to chase. I can easily be redirected if she startles me, making me likely suitable to live with dog-savvy cats.

  • My Ideal Home: Because I am still learning to trust that soft blankets and toys are permanently mine, and because I appreciate a peaceful routine, I would be best suited to an adult-only home or one with older, savvy children who respect my boundaries.

I have spent my whole life giving everything to others in the dark, but my heart is still wide open and full of hope. I am ready to give you every cuddle, every happy tail wag, and every quiet night curled up safely right beside you.

Could you be the one I’ve been waiting for?

Love always, Mika 💕
