🌊 Obi: The Athletic Adventurer & Gentle Soul
Hello! My name is Obi. I’m a 7-year-old German Short and Wire Haired Pointer cross with a heart of gold and a spirit that loves the great outdoors. Whether I’m sprinting through the tall grass, diving into a lake for a swim, or curled up upside-down in my bed after a long day, I do everything with 100% devotion.
I’m a “compact” pointer at only 21kg, meaning I fit perfectly on the sofa for post-adventure cuddles. I’m a quick learner, gentle with treats, and I might even bring you a “gift” like a shoe to celebrate your return home!
✨ A Proven Pack Member
I have a fantastic history of living and socializing with other dogs. Before moving to the UK, I was fostered on a farm with a pack of five dogs, including my mum, Jess! Currently, I regularly go out on walks with a professional walker and 2-3 other dogs at a time including large breeds like GSPs.
I would be a wonderful addition to a multi-dog household. While I carry a little worry from a past experience with an unkind male dog, I have proven that with a patient, proper introduction, I settle beautifully into a pack and truly enjoy the company of my own kind.
💔 A Heartbreaking Goodbye
My current family loves me dearly, but we’ve found ourselves in a very sad and difficult situation. One of my favorite humans has developed a specific, rare allergy that only reacts to male dogs. My family has tried everything possible to make it work, but for the health and well-being of their daughter, they have had to make the devastating decision to find me a new home. It’s an urgent move, but they are being very careful to ensure I find the perfect “forever” match.
✨ Understanding My Past & Progress
I haven’t always had the easiest start, but I am a resilient boy. Before I found my current family, I lived in a home where an unneutered male dog was unkind to me. Because of those tough early years, I carry a little bit of worry with me, but I have proven how well I can adapt with the right introduction.
* Building Trust: I used to be nervous around new people, but I’ve improved so much! If you ignore me at first and let me come to you on my own terms, we’ll be best friends.
* Lead Manners: I am an enthusiastic walker and I do pull on the lead. Because of this, it is essential that I wear a head-collar-type Halti. I walk beautifully when wearing it, and as long as my new owners are prepared for this, we’ll have a grand time exploring.
🏡 What I Need to Thrive
I am a high-energy boy who settles beautifully once my “work” is done. Here is what my dream home looks like:
* A Secure Rural Setting: I have a bit of a prey drive (squirrels and birds are my specialty!), so I need a home where I can run off-lead safely or be walked in areas where I won’t be taken by “surprise” by unfamiliar off-lead dogs.
* Pointer Experience: I’d love an owner who understands my sensitive nature and my strength on a lead, and who can continue my training with kindness.
* The Right Housemates: I currently live with a calm female dog and have a history of thriving in a multi-dog household. I would likely suit a home with other dogs as long as we are introduced properly. However, I definitely cannot live with cats, rabbits, or chickens!
* Peace and Quiet: I’m a star at the vet if I’m handled calmly, and I’m great at going to my bed when things get a bit too exciting.
I’m just a big, affectionate boy who wants to snuggle up and be part of a team. If you have the time, the patience, and a lap big enough for a Pointer-cross, I’ll repay you with a lifetime of “upside-down” naps and wagging tails.
Love and hopeful wags,
Obi x
