Meet Poppet – A Little Girl With a Huge Heart, Ready for Her Forever Home! 🐾

Hello, my name is Poppet, and though my story began with sadness, today I’m full of hope, ready for a future brimming with love and kindness.

I was rescued from a heartbreaking place—the government pound in Trabzon in Turkey. Before that, life was even harsher. I was used for breeding, kept locked away without comfort, warmth, or kindness. I knew only cold walls and loneliness and then when I couldn’t be used anymore they threw me away in the pound… until some amazing rescuers truly saw me and gave me my first chance at a better life.

Since arriving in the UK, my life has transformed in the care of my wonderful foster mum, Roberta—affectionately known as ‘Bea’. Bea has been nothing short of incredible. Thanks to her love, patience, and guidance, I have blossomed in ways no one could have imagined when I first arrived.  On sunny days Bea puts a soft blanket outside in the garden so I can catch the ‘sun puddles’ in comfort as she puts it.  Bea’s special.

When I first landed here, I was painfully thin and the simplest things—stairs, televisions, patio doors—were all completely new and confusing to me. But with Bea by my side, I’ve learned so much! I now know commands like wait, calm, blanket, bed, and mine (which I respond to when I need to leave something). I love learning new things—it makes my tail wag with pride!

Some important things to know about me:

• I’m house-trained and very affectionate.
• I adore people and children (preferably aged 7 and above) and have already met a few little people and their pushchairs!
• I love other dogs and would be very happy living with a doggy friend.
• I’m good on a longline and have been taught “let’s crack on” when it’s time to move forward again.
• I’ve been to the pub and happily lay on my blanket beside Bea—such a good girl!
• I travel well in the car and sleep soundly through the night.
• I’ve met sheep, goats, and horses while on the lead. I do have a prey drive, but I’m learning to manage it well.
• I still find it tempting to counter surf (especially after knowing real hunger for so long), but with Bea’s kind, patient training, even when I thought it would be fun to play with a bag of flour the had been left out… which did amuse Bea and the rescue team! I’m improving every day.

Sometimes, when I hear sudden noises or experience something new, I look to Bea for reassurance. Having someone to guide me gives me the confidence to carry on exploring this big, wonderful world and makes it a bit less scary for me.

One of my favorite things is cuddling up with my green frog toy and Bea—it’s my special comfort. And when I sleep deeply, you might catch me in my signature ‘Supergirl’ pose: one paw stretched proudly into the air, dreaming sweet dreams at last.

What I’m hoping for in my forever home:

• Lots of love and patience as I continue my journey of learning and trust.
• A family who will never see me as anything less than the sweet, deserving soul that I am.
• Gentle reassurance when I need a little extra courage.

Despite everything I’ve been through, my heart remains open and full of love. Every cuddle, every play session, every happy tail wag is a celebration of my second chance at life.
