Two Rescue Pups with Hopeful Hearts

We’re Sam and Tom — two brothers just over a year old, still figuring out the big, wide world together. We’re a bit of an odd pair: Sam (that’s me!) is quiet and thoughtful, and I like to lean in gently and nuzzle you, especially when I’m not sure what’s going on. Tom (that’s me!) has this funny little habit… he smiles. Really! His lips literally smile and his whole bottom waggles when he sees someone he trusts.

We were born in a place no puppy should ever know — a noisy, cold, scary government shelter in Greece. Our amazing Mum, Kardy, did everything she could to keep us safe there. She was our whole world — soft, strong, and always shielding us with her body. That shelter was all we knew, and Mum made it feel less awful.

Then one day, hope knocked.

Some amazing hoomans from Ethos Shelter and the Pointer Rescue Service made a promise to save us. But first, they had to help our mum. We didn’t understand. Why was she leaving? Were we going too?

We cried for her when she went, and honestly, we didn’t know if we’d ever see her again. But the hoomans — they didn’t forget about us. Far from it. They made a plan. And while we waited, our friends from the Ethos Pet Shelter came to check on us — they cuddled us, spoke softly, watched out for us every week and told Pointer Rescue how we were doing.

Then, one day, Liz came for us. She said we had a place waiting, a better place, full of kindness and safety. And now here we are — a little older, a little braver, and a whole lot more hopeful.

We’ve never known a real home. We’ve never had toys that belonged to just us, or a place to sleep that was soft and that didn’t smell like a hundred other frightened dogs. But we dream about it. We dream about soft laps and sunny gardens and maybe, just maybe, reuniting with our mum someday in the UK.

But the thing we dream of most?
Staying together.

We are each other’s comfort and courage. We sleep curled together, we explore together, we have shared our hardships together so we are very bonded.  (okay, sometimes Tom tries to nuzzle in on my stuff!), and we still look for our mum in every kind voice. We need to be together.

So if you’re reading this and your heart’s a little fuller now than it was a moment ago… maybe you’re our person? Maybe you’re the hooman who’ll say, “Yes. Both. Come home.”

We promise to fill your life with soft nuzzles, wonky smiles, and the kind of love only dogs who’ve known hardship can give.
And hey — who wouldn’t want a smiling dog and his shy snugglebug of a brother as their soulmates?
