Hi there… I’m Bruno. Handsome right…
And… well… I guess I’m still waiting.
I’ve been at the RSPCA centre for a while now, watching dogs come and go. I wag my tail and press my nose to the gate when someone walks by, just hoping they might stop and notice me. But most days… they don’t. Maybe it’s because I’m a little older. Or maybe it’s because I’m not the sort of dog who thrives in noisy places. But my heart is big, and it’s still got room for love – *your* love, maybe?
So the lovely hoomans at the RSPCA, particularly Buffy, asked their friends at Pointer Rescue to lend a paw… because they know I deserve a chance.
Let me tell you a bit about me – the real me. 🐾
I’m Bruno. A classic hound with a snoot built for sniffing and an appetite for adventure (and biscuits, but that’s beside the point). I might be a distinguished gentleman, but don’t let my age fool you – I’ve still got plenty of beans! When I’m out on walks, I’m usually nose-to-the-ground, hot on the trail of something interesting (possibly a squirrel, possibly yesterday’s sandwich – I don’t always know, but it’s very exciting either way).
I was with a family once, but sadly… it didn’t quite work out. I found it hard to cope with the busy walking environment – so many dogs, bikes, people, noises – it made my tail droop and my nerves jangle. So now I am here. I just need a calmer life. Somewhere quieter, with walks in peaceful places where I can really *sniff* and relax, somewhere more rural and peaceful.
So, what am I looking for?
A home that’s kind. Calm. With people who’ll be around most of the time while I settle in. A secure garden would be a dream – I love to play little games out there, then flop on a sunny spot and snooze like a champ. I also LOVE a cuddle. I mean, really love it. If you’ve got a sofa and a spare spot, I’m your guy. Pick me for that kinda stuff!
I’m fully house-trained, up to date on all my vet bits (vaccinations, worming, flea stuff, the works), and I’ve been castrated. My ears do need a bit of cleaning now and then – but I promise I’m very patient about it. I don’t really have much of a backstory to tell you – I wish I did – but what I do have is a heart that’s ready to trust and love, if someone would just give me the chance.
Now, I’ll be honest – I do get a bit barky on lead when I see other dogs at a distance. I just find it all a bit overwhelming sometimes. But I can walk alongside dogs with the right introductions. If you’ve got a bit of experience with reactivity – or you’re open to working with the lovely behaviour team – I know I can keep improving.
The only thing is, I *can’t* be rehomed to the PO13 or PO4 areas. Don’t ask me why, I just follow the rules. I’m a good boy like that.
So… that’s me. Bruno. A gentle soul. A sofa snoozer. A loyal, loving lad still waiting for his *furever*.
If you think you might have a quieter life and a kind heart… would you please notice me?
I’ve been here a while, but I’ve never given up hope. Maybe tomorrow, I’ll finally get to go home.
Love n’ hope,
Bruno 🐾
