🐾 Hi, I’m Lola… and I’ve been waiting for a hero like you. 🐾
💜 My Name is Lola… Could You Be My Happy Ever After?
Hello… my name is Lola, and I’m five years old.
People tell me I have the kindest eyes. I hope that’s true, because they’ve seen quite a lot in my short life.
I wasn’t very old when I left Spain. I was just a little puppy, around five months old, when a lovely family in the UK chose me. They looked at me and didn’t see my scars—they simply saw me.
And oh, how they loved me.
Before I came to them, I’d already been hurt. I had broken my leg and needed surgery, with metal plates fitted to help it heal. When I arrived in the UK, something wasn’t quite right with the metalwork in my back leg. My family didn’t hesitate. They made sure I had the surgery I needed, and once my bone had healed beautifully around the plate, they paid for it to be removed so I could have the very best chance of a comfortable life.
I really thought everything was going to be alright.
Then, when I was just thirteen months old, everyone discovered that I had hip dysplasia.
My family never stopped loving me, but they were told that the rescue in Spain wanted me to return so they could decide what treatment I would need. Believing they were doing what was best for me, they made the heartbreaking decision to let me go, trusting that one day I would come back into their arms.
But that day never came.
Instead, I stayed.
Days became weeks. Weeks became months. Months became years.
For three long years, my family kept asking about me. They never forgot me. They never stopped caring. They waited and hoped that someone would tell them I could finally come home.
Sadly, that wasn’t to be.
Life has moved on for them now, and although they loved me deeply, their home has changed. With several other dogs in the family, it simply wouldn’t be the calm environment that I now need to help me live comfortably and happily but they are fostering me to help me while Pointer Rescue find a quiet forever home for me.
When The Pointer Rescue Service heard about me and my special case. They were told that I would probably spend the rest of my life living in a shelter.
They couldn’t accept that.
They wanted answers.
They requested all of my X-rays and sent them to two independent UK veterinary orthopaedic university hospitals. After carefully reviewing everything, both specialists reached the same conclusion. They felt that, despite my hip dysplasia, a double hip replacement could not guarantee a better quality of life. Instead, they recommended carefully managing my condition with anti-inflammatory medication, gentle exercise, swimming to help keep my muscles strong without putting unnecessary strain on my joints, sensible weight management and supportive holistic care.
So that’s exactly what Pointer Rescue have done.
After my long journey back to the UK, they knew I was uncomfortable, so they immediately started me on anti-inflammatory medication to help ease my discomfort while I settled into my temporary foster home.
For the first time in a very long time…
A whole team was fighting for me.
And they’re still fighting for me now.
Because Pointer Rescue believe every dog deserves a forever family, they have made me a very special promise. They will continue to cover the cost of my anti-inflammatory medication for the rest of my life, so that my future family never has to worry that giving me a home might be more than they can afford.
They simply want me to have the chance that every dog deserves.
A chance to belong.
So, what sort of home am I dreaming of?
I don’t need excitement.
In fact, I’d much prefer the opposite.
I really need someone with good rescue dog experience.
I’d love a quiet home where life moves at a gentler pace. Somewhere peaceful, perhaps in the countryside or a more rural setting, where I can enjoy slow strolls, fresh air, and sunny afternoons watching the world go by.
If I were to share my home with another dog, I think I’d be happiest with a calm, older male companion who, like me, enjoys the quieter things in life but eqaully if someone worked from home or was retired and I wass the only dog then that would be so good for me too. After everything I’ve been through, I would probably find living with another female or a busy household far too overwhelming.
Mostly though…
I’m just looking for people who understand that I’ve had a difficult journey.
People with patience.
People with kindness.
People who won’t define me by my hips but by my heart.
Because my heart works perfectly.
I still have so much love to give.
I’ll happily lean against your legs while you make a cup of tea.
I’ll remind you to slow down and enjoy the little things.
I’ll make you smile every single day with my gentle soul and grateful heart.
I don’t need mountains to climb.
I don’t need endless adventures.
I don’t need perfection.
I just need love.
A peaceful home.
A cosy bed.
Gentle hands.
And someone who will softly whisper…
“You’re safe now, Lola. You’re home.”
I’ve spent enough of my life waiting.
Maybe…
Just maybe…
I’ve been waiting for you. ❤️
